/ BRAND PROTECTION IN AFRICA

Stop counterfeits of your brand across Africa.

Fake versions of your products are being sold on Jumia, Jiji, Facebook and WhatsApp right now. ValueGuard AI finds them, proves they're fake and gets them removed — so you keep the sale and the customer's trust.

Why counterfeiting hits African brands harder

Selling across Africa means selling across many channels at once — a formal marketplace listing, a Facebook page, a WhatsApp catalogue, a stall in a physical market, and an importer bringing in look-alike stock from abroad. Counterfeiters use exactly the same channels, and they use your product photos, your packaging and your brand name to do it.

The cost isn't only the lost sale. A customer who buys a fake skin cream, fake brake pads or fake medicine blames the brand on the label, not the seller. Refunds, bad reviews, safety complaints and regulator attention all land on you.

Enforcement is possible — Kenya's Anti-Counterfeit Authority, KEBS and KIPI, and equivalent bodies across the continent, all act on well-evidenced cases. The hard part is finding every infringement and building evidence that holds up. That's the part we do.

    / WHERE WE LOOK

Every channel your brand can be faked on

    Local marketplaces

Jumia, Kilimall, Jiji, Copia and the smaller country-level marketplaces where fakes are listed under your product photos and your brand name.

    Social and WhatsApp commerce

Facebook Marketplace, Instagram shops, TikTok Shop and WhatsApp catalogues — where most informal selling in Africa actually happens.

    Import and global platforms

Alibaba, AliExpress, Amazon and eBay listings that ship counterfeits of your products into African markets in bulk.

    Websites and paid ads

Cloned storefronts, lookalike domains and Google or Meta ads bidding on your brand name to intercept your customers.

    / HOW IT WORKS

    From first scan to takedown

    01

    We scan for your brand

You give us your brand, products and authorised sellers. We start watching every channel where your name can appear across the continent.

    02

    We confirm what's fake

Each suspected listing is checked against your genuine products and seller list, and the evidence is captured with timestamps and screenshots.

    03

    We get it taken down

We file the removal with the platform on your behalf. Most listings come down within hours. Repeat offenders are tracked, not just removed.

    04

    We escalate when needed

Stubborn cases move to our panel of IP advocates, Anti-Counterfeit Authority agents and digital forensics specialists — evidence already in hand.

    Markets we watch

Headquartered in Nairobi, working with brands selling right across the continent — and into it.

    • Kenya
    • Nigeria
    • Ghana
    • Uganda
    • Tanzania
    • Rwanda
    • South Africa
    • Zambia
    • Ethiopia
    • Côte d'Ivoire
    • Senegal
    • Egypt

Enforcement that doesn't stop at the platform

Most fake listings come down when we file with the platform. When one doesn't — or when the same seller keeps returning under new names — the case moves to our panel of IP advocates, Anti-Counterfeit Authority agents and digital forensics specialists, with timestamped screenshots, seller details, product comparisons and pricing records already gathered.

That means a case can go to a platform, a regulator or a court without you rebuilding the evidence from scratch.

    Questions African brands ask us

Do you cover African marketplaces and not just Amazon?

Yes. Local marketplaces like Jumia, Kilimall and Jiji are a core part of what we monitor, alongside social commerce on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and WhatsApp. Global platforms like Amazon, Alibaba and AliExpress are covered too, because a lot of counterfeit stock enters African markets through them.

Which African countries do you work in?

We are headquartered in Kenya and work with brands selling across East, West, Southern and North Africa — including Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Africa, Zambia, Ethiopia and Egypt. If your products are sold there, we can watch for fakes there.

Do I need a registered trademark first?

A registered trademark makes takedowns faster and gives you stronger options, but it isn't a precondition for us to start finding what's out there. If your mark isn't registered yet in the markets that matter, we can help you register and monitor it.

What about counterfeits sold in physical markets?

We handle offline enforcement too — market sweeps, test purchases and evidence gathering to support raids and legal action, coordinated with the relevant enforcement bodies.

How is this different from doing it in-house?

In-house teams can file a takedown, but they rarely have the coverage to find every listing across a dozen platforms in several countries, or the evidence trail needed when a platform pushes back. We do the finding, the filing and the escalation, and you see all of it in one dashboard.
